Top 3 Things To Do Before Eloping to Southwest Florida

lets elope to Florida

With so many changes occurring this year, eloping to Southwest Florida has never been a better idea. Of course, being residents ourselves, we may be just a bit biased. 😉 But we are confident that this is the time to scurry down to the sunshine with your very closest crew and say, “I Do!”

If you and your soon to be spouse are feeling this same pull, you may be wondering where to start. Elopements hold different meaning now than they used to. It doesn’t just mean to hurry off in secret in a celebration just the two of you. It means assessing what is happening, making any necessary adjustments, and making the decision to minimize your celebration just a bit to not postpone your love story a second further. It means love perseveres!

To help make eloping to Southwest Florida as easy as possible, we have rounded up our top tips.

The “How-to” of Eloping to Southwest Florida

First & foremost, you want to obtain your license. To do so, you have to ensure you have all the necessary documents. The State of Florida requires a three-day waiting period between obtaining the application and the effective date of said license. If you are not a Florida resident, no worries and no waiting for you! For more rules to be aware of and documents to bring, head to getting married in Florida

Consider The Seasons

While Florida is known for its gorgeous weather, remember to consider not so sunny times like hurricane season. Another thing to consider is peak travel times. Eloping during a holiday weekend will likely mean higher rates for flights and hotels, and more tourist traffic to endure. This also may mean strict rules for weddings on beaches and popular locations.   We recommend a Monday or Friday wedding.  Sounds crazy, but it actually gives you more time to enjoy this paradise and if you are having guests travel with you its easier to take off for vacation, extending the natural weekend.

Pick Your Paradise

It’s not just about the beaches down here. From the Panhandle to Miami and further, there is a rich collision of culture and history to add various possibilities & vibes to your wedding weekend. The Florida beaches are always a top notch idea, but don’t hesitate to think outside the sandbox and explore options like museums, historic buildings, nature preserves and more.
